Just one of those days...
Where you close on a house in Barryville,

Then hustle over and close on a house in Woodstock.

…and then Daddy gets a new pair of shoes.
Local News of Note
Our design collaboration with Courtney and Bronson on their 1800's original 1 room schoolhouse conversion to the Hillside Schoolhouse Inn is profiled in this Fodor's article on lodgings at reincarnated schoolhouses.
And the Heron, arguably Sullivan County's best watering and gathering hole (and definitely the go to for our clients) is celebrating their 2nd birthday in Narrowsburg by offering a free glass of champagne to any of their friend/clients who stop by and say "Happy Birthday" (limit one b-day wish per customer).
Hudson Renovation
The Hudson River is icing up over in Port Ewen where we are gut remodeling an older river-side ranch house.

Mechanicals are in, electric is rough-in, a few last minute punchlist items and tomorrow we start insulating.

The pictures have quite captured the essence of the plan or design yet since all the construction action has prevented good pictures but one of these days I'll get in there with a good wide angle.

The weather continues to ruin our best laid plans, and it's actually pretty frickin' dangerous out there, with ice everywhere, stemming from the swinging temperatures - deep freeze, big melt, deep freeze, lots of rain, then snow, then big melt. This is a lot harder to manage than just a good old fashioned cold and snow winter. A lot harder actually.
Ecotech Spray Foam Insulation -Sold
In maybe the most amazing example of making sweet southern lemonade out of some real sour lemons, I sold my 5 yr old Baby Ecotech last week to an associate I'm sure will have the ability and energy and creativity to take it to the next level.
And now, since a sizable portion of my day to day drama workload is gone, I spent Thursday killing some time…
At our job site in Rhinebeck…

In Hyde Park, Touring the Vanderbilt Mansion...

and Franklin Roosevelt home (both on the Hudson).

Then off to a 2 Martini lunch in Kingston NY waterfront with the Owner of Coldwell Banker Village Green Realty…

Then to the closing in Port Jervis…
And then a long hot bubble bath back at home, with Lucas' bubbles, since I seemed to have run short on mine.

So, we prove to ourselves that we survive when things go well, but also when plans don't work out as planned. Ecotech was a great idea, started in a real tough economy. But we built the company, and handed it for the next owner to parlay into what we had always hoped to. Everyone got paid, the brand sintact and while I didn't make much money, we did a good job. Our homes benefited since 2009, when spray foam became our default insulation, more than doubling the energy efficiency of our cool little homes.
To Ecotech and all the effort invested in it for the past 5 years, We Salute You.
